Take a Virtual Tour of UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Petra

While many museums and sites are currently closed, don’t let that stop you from continuing to explore and discover the world. In partnership with UNESCO, we are pleased to share culture and invite you to virtual tours of many historic UNESCO World Heritage sites around the globe.

Petra is half-built, half-carved into the rock, and is surrounded by mountains riddled with passages and gorges.

Situated between the Red Sea and the Dead Sea and inhabited since prehistoric times. During Hellenistic and Roman eras the rock-cut capital city of the Nabateans, became a major caravan center for the incense of Arabia, the silks of China and the spices of India, a crossroads between Arabia, Egypt and Syrian Phoenicia.
